When I walked down the aisle I never imagined my first anniversary would be spent prepping for Chemo.
I felt like I robbed Patrick, he just did this! Why would he want to do it again? It just wasn't fair!
We celebrated by a nice dinner at a restaurant I had been dying to go to, home for snuggles and movies, that was the night before our anniversary. Then Sunday the 18th of February our first anniversary we spent filling me with pre-meds, steroids, nausea meds, etc. To think a year ago was one of the happiest times of my life and now I was terrified beyond belief.
I prepped for chemo like only I would.... I went shopping, I ordered a couple of cheap wigs, and bought hats, hats and more hats. Scarves, and chemo outfits....yes chemo outfits! I can always find a reason for a new outfit.
Well now it was time....that morning was such a giant blur more surreal than any moment before. First was having my blood drawn, then was my dose of meds, then it was time. Taxotere, Adriamycin, and Cytoxan. Patrick and I watched movies and snuggled up in two chairs close to each other while I took all 3 chemos for 5 hours straight! I was dizzy and my hands and feet were numb and my nose felt like it does when you eat ice cream too fast.
We left I came home and laid around and an hour later BAM it hit me! I was so nauseous. It lasted all night! I finally had a slight appetite in the middle of the night and one of my greatest friends Angie brought me the only food I wanted! CHEERIOS!!!
That was a Monday, Tuesday I slept all day, Wednesday I slept all day, Thursday I was achy from the Taxotere, Friday the achyness continued but I was finally hungry....thank god for 5 guys!
Then week 2.... Monday was going for my count check and shots to keep the up... OMG they hurt, they burn and you are achy for a week. I spent 90% of the week in the tub.Tuesday I had to go back I was out of it, counts again only this time they discovered my red cells were super low and yet another shot! Wednesday I woke up and felt like death we headed back and everything was low, red cells, white cells, and platelets. I had IV of fluid, antibiotics, they took blood, and sent me for xrays.
My Blog is everything about "My Perfectly Imperfect Life" From breast cancer, to raising 4 kids, living life as an adopted child, cooking for my big ol' family... and so on.... Its not perfect... but it's perfection to me!
About Me
- Janna Coppage
- As a stay at home in theory I should have time to make some glamorous 3 course meal every night... but that's not happening! Not with 4 teenage kids who are super active and me being a full time student. So the cure to my cheer/football/baseball/band mom blues has been anything that will make my life less insane.
